The Evolution
of BirdZerk!
April
1990- Dominic Latkovski is hired as Billy Bird, mascot of the Louisville
Redbirds.
June
1990- Brennan and Lex Latkovski, Dominic’s brothers join the
show and becomes sidekicks to Billy Bird’s on-field antics.
July
1990- Billy Bird and younger brother Brennan fascinate fans with “The
Umpire Dance" routine.
July
1991- Billy Bird and Company are hired to perform their act at the
Triple A All-Star Game.
December
1992- Dominic invests in booth space, promotional materials, and the
future of the three-man act at the Baseball Winter Meetings trade show. A goal
of 15 appearances is set for the 1993 season.
Summer
1993 - Besides performing at all 72 Louisville Redbirds home games,
Billy Bird does 48 appearances all across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
July
1994- Billy Bird and “The Umpire Dance” are featured as
CNN’s “Play of the day” after appearing at the Triple A All-Star
game in Nashville, TN
January
1995 - Breaking ties with the Louisville Redbirds, the Latkovski brothers
leave Billy Bird behind and unveil their new character BirdZerk!
Summer
1995- BirdZerk! Is a huge hit at 58 ball parks across the country.
Summer
1996- The newest inflatable phenom is sports, Air BirdZerk! is introduced
to baseball fans on the BirdZerk! summer tour.
Summer
1998- Adding to the pandemonium, Zerk! Junior joins the show and performs
“The Robot” routine.
July
1998- BirdZerk! and the ZOOperstars!
pull double duty performing at the Triple A All-Star game in Norfolk, VA.
April
1999- Steve Givans joins the group, replacing Brennan as the BirdZerk!
sidekick. Brennan leaves to concentrate on the group’s latest entertainment
venture…the ZOOperstars!
July
2000- Once again, BirdZerk! and the ZOOperstars!
are hired to perform at the Triple A All-Star game in Rochester, NY.
April
2001- Steve Jones takes over as the main accomplice for the BirdZerk!
act. Steve Givans focuses his time and attention on the ZOOperstars!
April
2002- BirdZerk! and the ZOOperstars!
are hired to perform for the Orix BlueWave in Kobe, Japan.
April
2002- For the 5th time in 12 years, BirdZerk! makes an appearance at
the Triple A All-Star game in Oklahoma City, OK.!
July
2002- For the 5th time in 12 years another appearance at the triple
A All-Star game in Oklahoma City, OK.
April
2004– Wayne Earle is hired as the Director of Marketing to help
promote both the BirdZerk! and the ZOOperstars!
April
2004– After three seasons with the ZOOperstars!, Casey Curtsinger
takes on the sidekick role of the BirdZerk! act.
